Did you know that the some of the United States still have laws against blasphemy?

For example chapter 272 of the Massachusettes general law...

Section 36. Whoever willfully blasphemes the holy name of God by denying, cursing or contumeliously reproaching God, His creation, government or final judging of the world, or by cursing or contumeliously reproaching Jesus Christ or the Holy Ghost, or by cursing or contumeliously reproaching or exposing to contempt and ridicule, the holy word of God contained in the holy scriptures shall be punished by imprisonment in jail for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars, and may also be bound to good behavior.

What are your thought about it?

the last known person to get charged with blasphemy was Abner Kneeland in 1838.

Obviously this country was founded on Christian ideals. I don't think anyone can say it wasn't I mean it's all over our constitution and even our currency.

So much for the First Amendment.

Better, yet. Did you know that some states' (including Massachusetts and W's beloved Texas) constitutions preclude atheists from holding public office or serving on juries?

ADDENDA

"this country was founded on Christian ideals. I don't think anyone can say it wasn't I mean it's all over our constitution "

No, it is not. If so, please demonstrate.

"But the Atheists keep saying that our country wasn't founded on Christian ideals!"

In case you missed it, Massachusetts is not "our country".

I think a more relevant point is when was the time someone was charged with the crime? There are plenty of laws in rule books that are never enforced.

Hmmm! Done with the usual amount of grace and tolerance we expect from Christianity.

Those laws are off course impossible to enforce because of the first amendment.

Lawmakers in those states are very reluctant to repel them because they think it would give them bad publicity. It would mark them at best as agnostics, and avowed agnostics don't win elections in the USA.
