It depends on the youngster. EVERY field is good for some youngsters. NO field is good for all youngsters. The some goes for adults.

and people who build things other
than hotels.

I was always interested in auto-mechanics and my teacher pushed me into Mechanical Engineering. I'm glad he did but keep in mind, you will never get rich working for someone else. Push the child to be independent also. Maybe some business courses as well as engineering.
