Well, I am from the Buckeye State, and I call it pop. I don't think I hear the word, soda very much, in these parts.

I'm from Kansas and we are in the dead center of the map.
Location has everything to do with it, I believe. I have noticed people from the South say "soda", while people from the North say "pop".

Soft drink here in Australia or just the name of the drink itself such as Coke, Lemonade - Sprite, Fanta, Solo (Lemon Squash).

it's soda in buffalo,ny but in big cities like b-more and NYC its pop. i don't know why though
