Music -

New Orleans Rhythm Kings
Bix Beiderbeck (the Wolverines)
Louis Armstrong (the very early years)
Jellyroll Morton
Vic Burton
King Oliver
Bricktop
Josephine Baker

Flappers rouged their knees
Shoes - a good substitute is the "character shoe" found at good dancewear shops - it comes in white, bone and black and costs about $50
Hair was bobbed at the chin
Bangs and spit curles were in
dresses were loose-fitting "sacks" with lowered waistlines
Hats were close fitting "cloches"
Pearl necklaces were long - down to the waist
Makeup on the face was very chizled - almost calligraphic - look for Theda Bera as an example.
Don't forget the head band with jewel and peacock feather

Look up topics like Roaring 20's, Prohibition, Flapper, It girls of the 1920's, Silent screen idols of the 1920's etc.

That should give you at least a start.

Sounds like a fun idea! Have a big band play 20s jazz, ballads, and standards. any good band will know what popular songs to play from that era, or you can google a search for popular ballads/standards from the 20s. Finger wave & short bob hair cuts were popular. Have your stylist practice a finger wave hairstyle on your girls. Simple makeup with thin black liner & red lips. Shoes should be easy. Go to a dance studio or where they sell dance costumes/accessories. Look for t-strap heels. They look like maryjane style & since they're dance shoes, these are soft & comfortable for all night wear. Nude fishnet or mesh hose would be appropriate for a wedding instead of black. Have fun! :)

Try fascinators for your hair. They are feathery types of hair decoration. You could also use hair jewels.

As for hair, go for a bob. If the girls want to keep long hair that would be a problem, as most flapper girls kept short hair.

I am not sure about makeup but I am guessing it involved a dark lip and dark eyeshadow at night and a natural look during the day.

Do you have some flea markets in your area? I always see vintage clothing at flea markets. If you don't want to spend a lot, go to the local costume rental store. I'm sure they have 20's styles outfits for rent also.

Regarding the music, I know a beautiful song that has been covered by modern artists. The name of the song is "Always" and it was written by Irving Berlin. Do a search on it.

Yes, they wore makeup - esp. mascara & rouge (blush) & lipstick. Headbands in hair. For shoes, look for some cute Mary Janes with a stockier heel, that would look realistic. Rent "Spendor in the Grass" (Natalie Wood/Warren Beatty) to see clothes, shoes, all of it.
They also wore long beaded necklaces, like pearls, to the waist.

It's cool because it has wedding picutres starting with 1900.

Large bouquets of orchids and lily's were a favorite choice for flowers. Ostrich fans were also quite popular with the ladies. Set the ambience of the decade by holding your wedding reception at a lounge or decorate your chosen location as a cabaret or speakeasy.

Bootlegging was big business for many, so be sure to add some "moonshine" bottles along the bar. Set up an old-time photo studio and hire a photographer to shoot guests in old fashioned costumes. This would make a wonderful keepsake to give to your guests as favors.

For table decor, place a single large orchid in a crystal vase and drape faux pearls around the centerpiece. Add some rose petals to complete the look.

Present your guests with long fake pearl necklaces, a CD with music from the 20's, or a personalized deck of cards (gambling was extremely popular then.)

For entertainment you will definitely want a Jazz band or a DJ that has a variety of jazz and related nineteen twenties music. If your reception location has a large yard area, set up a croquet match, as this was a very enjoyable pastime for both men and women.

Not sure how to dance to the music? Hire a dance instructor to come in and teach you and your guests the Charleston, Lindy Hop and other slick dances of the 20's.
