Dunno if it's sacreligious, but in my case it's pretty damned ironic... =)

Is it sacreligious to name your kid Jesus in english?

By the way, Chris...which I guess you're refering to Christ...was NOT His name. Jesus was Jesus THE Christ...not Jesus Christ...He had no name...

A child can be named after any Prophet. Muslims have the name Esa, which means Jesus.

No. However, if you named your child "Jesus Christ" that would probably be sacrilegious.

If you named your child "The Real Jesus Christ, Not the Fake One From 2000 Years Ago", then you would probably get excommunicated.

No. It's sacreligious to say "Jesus F-ing Christ". or maybe swear "By the hair on Jesus's balls!"

And while Christina Aguilara might be considered unholy for several reasons, I don't think her first name is one of them.

Only if you believe that it is.

Remember, Jesus' actual name (transliterated) was Yeshua.

So was Joshua's.

Some cultures, out of respect for the name of the son of God, do not apply it to mere mortals.

Others, out of respect for the name of the son of God, name their first-born male children after him.
