In Western culture, it mostly dates back to sailors, who had a tradition of piercing the left ear upon crossing the equator. Since many of the sailors who did so became pirates or buccaneers, it took on a "rebel" image.
The original bikers were WWII vets, and the tradition spread from the Navy into popular culture through them.

Earrings have been worn long before Jesus came about. One of the early signs of earrings worn by males are from the walls of Persepolis in ancient Persia, the carved images of the soldiers from various parts of the Persian Empire which are displayed on some of the surviving walls of the palace shows the soldiers wearing an ear ring. The Greeks sometimes put ear rings on statues.

That statement is ridiculous. Probably made up my some disgruntled Christian because someone with an earring was mean to him once (boo hoo)
Earings on men & women is as old as ears on men & women, many thousands of years older than Jesus. Most early civilizations practiced piercing of the ears, lips, nose etc.

The wearing of jewelry by either men or women is against scripture. But in regards to this matter being specificaly against Christ I do not know how that would be.

Pirates and other sailors wore earrings so that if they were killed or washed overboard and their body was found, they would have a little gold on them to pay for a Christian burial.
