I believe that in ten years time technology, taxes, regulations or other incentives will be working to give a modest improvement in the fuel economy of vehicles (say 10 to 20% on average). Diesel powered cars with their better economy will be more common. Bio alcohols may be blended with gasoline up to an average of 10 to 20% and similarly bio diesel may be blended commonly with petroleum based diesel perhaps again commonly 10 to 20%. Electric vehicles I feel are unlikely to reach 5% of new vehicle sales but may establish a niche for city use. Likewise hydrogen. Pehaps all this will mean a petroleum consumption of 70 to 80% of what it is today.

The BEST fuel is the fossil fuels that the earth is recycling. So we will never run out as the plants are doing a great job.

Well with the power they have...
Still gasoline at 10 times the price.
Unless they decide they cannot find any more wells, and decide to bring out technology we never heard of that is life-changing, because they have no more money to make in the product of gasoline. (cost is to expensive to find oil wells)

If we are smart we will be using ethanol. Ethanol is clean burning, renewable, and made in America. Gasoline is none of those things.
