I'll put my 2 cents in on this one.

I have nothing against a slow driver. Sometimes there are good reasons to be driving slow and not just for conditions that effect everybody like unusual weather or road conditions. A driver may slow down for unfamiliar surroundings, driving short distances on an emergency tire, towing, etc.

The problem that I have with slow drivers is when they are driving slow for their own reasons and remain oblivious to the backup they are causing behind them.

I will admit that there are times when I have to drive slow, particularly when I am in a new area or neighborhood that I haven't been in before and I am trying to find something. But you know what? I also try to pay attention to my surroundings and any backup I might be causing. If I need to check directions or a map, I pull off of the road in an area that's safe to do so. I don't hit my brakes hard because I think I might see something I am looking for. I sure don't turn without signaling! I might even motion for people to go around and actually help them to safely pass me if it's safe to do so. If I am on the Interstate and need to slow down, I sure don't do it in the fast lane!

Driving is a team effort of all drivers on the road. It's not just about me me me! Pay attention to other drivers. Be courteous. Let people out who are trying to turn onto a busy street when the light has traffic backing up. This principle extends to slow driving. If you have a need to drive slow, fine. But recognize that you are creating an obstruction to traffic and behave accordingly. If you can't remember to do that, then don't be too surpised if the people behind give you a frindly honk of the horn to help remind you.

I'll give you my perspective. if there is a speed limit, they need to do the posted speed limit. What i hate are people who don't do the MINIMUM on an interstate. My biggest question for them is WHY are u on the interstate. Another reason is Slow Drivers tend to be more scared. If something unforeseen happens, they think going slow will help them. The truth is it makes it worse because they can't react quickly enough. Slow drivers will cause more accidents.

Because they are too self-absorbed to realize they are not the only ones on the road. So if they have to slow down for someone else, they are forced to actually be patient. If you are late, it is not anyone else's problem. So don't expect people to drive according to your schedule.

Also the speed limit is not the required speed for the road. It is the maximum allowable speed.

Michael H complains that slow drivers slow down when something unexpected happens, and that they aren't any safer by doing so. Thats ridiculous! Going slower gives you better traction and control. It also increases your reaction time to compensate for problems on the road.

I only mind slow drivers when they refuse to move to the right and yield to faster drivers as the law requires. If they are traveling at least the posted speed limit thats OK, its the driver who drives 10-15 MPH under the speed limit and makes it impossible for others to pass that is so annoying!

because they are in the way, i mean at least drive the speed limit. also lots of slow drivers will slow down because they dont know where they are going. and they then they turn with no signal. i mean seriously, thats what its there for! i drive fast. if your gonna go slow use the correct lane. and when is it legal to take ones dl? i mean seriously sometimes people just shouldnt be on the road

I usually dont mind as long as they are atleast going the speed limit . I do hate when its a multiple lane highway and the slowest driver wants to be in the "fast" lane , it causes a disruption in the flow of traffic . I sometimes like to just cruise slow , but i stay in the far right lane like a good boy .

People hate slow drivers for the same reason people hate drivers that go over posted speed limits.IT WORKS BOTH WAYS.

There is no excuse for a slow driver to be on the road holding up traffic. If you are unable or unwilling to drive the speed limit then get off the highway. An argument can be said that it's a free country and you are able to do anything you want but your right to do as you please stops when you begin to infringe on my rights.

because when you are on the interstate and there is a blockade of drivers going 45mph on the INTERSTATE it gets quite annoying....also why do slow drivers hate it when fast drivers pass them on a two lane road they blow the horn and give me the finger

Because they slow the traffic - ask why people hate traffic?
