Ive already got the handle and everything made but i want it to be realy cool and have the blade come out when i hit a button...and idea how i would accomplish this daunting task?

That would be done in post production by the optical effects department, the prop maker (you) need not be concerned with the details.

However, you might consider telescoping translucent plastic tubes (like a radio antenna) extended with compressed gas (maybe a CO2 cartridge?)

I assume you are talking about a replica/ model here. do you have a material in mind to represent the light blade? that will dictate the best mechanism to use.
If you don't have a material planned, then the next question is how rigid do you want it? anything that will fit in the handle has to be collapsible. nested, tapered tubes is the most rigid, which is why it was used for the toy version. think of a colapsible antenna on a radio. You could modify a car power antenna module to give the 'extension'. increasing the applied voltage above 12 will increase the speed.
if it doesn't have to be rigid you could have a cloth tube expanded/ collapsed using a air pump/ vacuum.
just thinking.
