There are different types of Visine. The best known is the one that "gets the red out." The problem is, it's a "vasoconstrictor," which means it gets the red out by constricting your eye's blood vessels, not by addressing the actual cause of the discomfort.

Rather than use a get-the-red-out product, you should use artificial tears (Visine does have one of these in its line). There are many brands of artificial tears at the drug store; different people will find that different brands work for them. Artificial tears are more expensive than other types of eye drops, but they're worth it.

Visine contains a decongestant that can create dependency if used daily. It also is preserved with BAK which can cause sensitivity reactions in a lot of people. So it is not safe to use it daily.

Why do you use the Visine? If your eyes are red or dry after contact lens use you should see your fitter to determine if another brand of contacts or a change in care system is needed.

I too wear glasses and contacts and my friend who happens to be my eye doctor said that using visine daily is not a good thing. There are regular eye drops called Natural Tears and those work a lot better after having contact in all day. hope this helps you out! keep those eyes lookin' pretty!!

If you're using them every day its probably because you're contacts are not allowing enough air to your eyes. You need a better brand. Or wear them less often.

You dont want to use eye drops with your contacts in, unless theyre designed for contact wearers.

Using eye drops isn't going to hurt you if you are using the drops when your contacts are out, but if you need them everyday, you should dry using rewetting drops when you have your contacts in, and then when you take them out, they shouldn't feel dry, and you won't need eye drops.

I would say if you don't absolutely need them, then don't use them. If you are going to sleep, then why do you need eye drops? These eye drops will make your eyes depended on them just like lip balm does to the lips. The more lip balm you use, the more you'll find a need to constantly apply more.

yeah it's safe. I'm pretty sure that they also make a visine for while you're actually wearing contacts.

you are not supposed to use eye drops all of the time because your eyes can become very dependent on them, there are better drops out there than the commercial ones that are not so harmful!

Yes, you can use visine. I just wouldn't use products that contain any sort of over the counter medication in them. You should talk to your opthamologist first if you plan on using something like that.
