And why? Because no garage parking, etc?
How do you feel about it? Do you feel safe?
Do you move your car everyday?
How do you keep your car clean?

I have an extra car that has to park on street I don't have extra garage for it should I get rid of it but my mom doesn't have a car and she wants me to keep it for her. But she only uses it every other day not everyday - above are all the concerns that I have - please help.

Serious answers only, thanks.

I do and LA is dirty. The cops here have stake outs for parking and decide who gets to park where. Street cleaning tickets are common.

Yes I have to park my car on the street. I live in LA so it is very common. I feel safe as long as it is not up the street and is nearby my home, best if it is front or acrross the street.

The only thing I worry is when the kids pay they will hit it. I have to because there are more cars in our household then the driveway allows. I move it everyday because I drive it everyday. It sucks when street sweepers come by because it cant be parked on a certin side of the street on certin days or you get a ticket.

Also in cali if you dont have insurance on a vehicle it can not be registered and if its not registered and parked on the street it can be towed or given a ticket.

And my fiancee cleans my car I take care of the inside.

**keep it for your mom is she doesnt use it that much that is fine....at least you know your mom has a car if she has an emergency and has to go somewhere.
it will be fine just get full coverage if you worry about it.

I park on the street because I have no garage. I live in a safe area so that is not a concern of mine, but I also keep in mind not to leave anything of much value out in the open. I use my "main" car everyday but a second car remains parked there. I keep that one covered with a car cover. I would recommend that for your Mom's car. Keeps it clean (cleaner anyway) and also could help as a theft deterrent.

I had a little Ford Escort beater that my husband drove to work.. We on occassion would park it on the street.. It had been broken into 3 times.. There's nothing in it and not worth anything.. It's advised by the police to NOT lock your vehicle, a thief will do less damage ripping out the stereo, than if he breaks a window/locks to get the stereo... Just a little piece of wisdom...Also, where we used to live had no parking... It was ridiculous if someone had a party or bbq you had to park a million miles away and walk to their house.. Not an easy feat with two small children, diaper bag, food etc.. So, I'm glad that we live where we have a garage and a big driveway and we can park on the street just not overnight...
