My boyfriend and I are going to NYC for a week next Friday. He is Italian and loves mob movies and stuff like that. Are there any places to learn about the history of the NYC mob in NYC? I know it's an odd question. I just thought it might be interesting for him. Thanks a bunch!!!

There's a tour given where you go to sites of famous Mafia rubouts. I don't know if the guy still gives the tour, or if someone bumped him off too.

One place that is expensive ($$$$), but I love for steaks is a restaurant called Sparks on 46th btw 2nd & 3rd Aves. This is where Sammy "the Bull" Gravano had men kill Paul Castellano, of the Gambino crime family. I think there may be some memorabilia up there still.

If you do a little research, you can watch "Mafia History - La Cosa Nostra: The History of the New York Mafia" on DVD (available on Amazon) and then go to all the places it mentions.
