Maybe there was an error in your first time trying to burn with that cd, try a new one, because once a error with a CD happens, usually the cd is unusable after... Also check just in case you have the proper drivers for your CD-Burner installed

What kind of files are they, music?
When you insert a blank cd, and that screen pops up, choose burn audio cd (or whatever you want)

To do it in itunes, make a playlist that is 80min or less and then click burn once you put a blank cd in.

Try this free burn software

CDBurnerXP Pro
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

Also a lot of the music from itunes is protected so in order to burn them they must be converted in which you will need a program that can do that such as
http://tunebite.com/en/remove_drm/index.html
