Yep....Right out of GTA's Ammunation menu. How old are you, 12?

I own a Bushmaster XM15-A4 in 6.8x43mm with an Eotech holo-sight. I like it the most out of the other firearms I own.

Obviosuly a gun is a tool and different guns are best used for the job they were designed for.however uou are getting a lot of upset replies from guys here who are quite experienced but should know better than to get too upset about such a question.

Since even the world's most experienced gun owners sometimes ask the same thing on gun forums.

Though it usually goes more along the lines of "if you had one weapon type only to use, what would it be"

In that context the discussion usually goes

The shotgun is a good choice-

There are few things you could not use it for. It can defend you at close quarters, clear a room of bad guys, work in a forward scouts hands in thick cover in a platoon, feed you forever- take birds, small game and medium game, and if you can fit a rifled barrel you can handle a great deal of hunting scenarios and big game out to 150 yards or so.

Also the sniper rifle if as long as not a very large calibre(like 408 or 50BMG) and not too heavy can, from extreme range work back to serving you all the way to point black if need be as well. A good enough rifle shot can even learn to take game birds under the right circumstances.

The Ak-47 or any battle rifle can do a similar thing.

A lot of hunters also swear by the pistol as being versatile too.And it can be,though it falls down mostly just in the power department for the great majority of rounds, whether it is range, trajectory, or stopping power on big game. That is you end up having to really tweak the design type or size to turn it into another job.

The high capacity SMG's are pretty much either for their designed purpose, or pure fun factor. Otherwise they don't get a vote.

My vote is either the sniper rifle in something light and handy, more of a tactical design in the 308 win for everything(end of the world scenario whatever) or a repeating shotgun with changeable rifled barrel.

When you grow up and get past the stage of thinking about what's "cool," you'll find that guns are tools. How good a gun is must be defined by the job it's meant to do.
For dangerous game in close cover, a large-bore double is best. You might want to look, for instance, at Searcy's 470 N.E.
My favorite medium-bore rifle is a 9.3x62 on a Mauser action.
My favorite small-bore for general hunting is a 7x57 Mauser chambering of a Remington 700 Mountain rifle.
Favorite miniature is a 6mm Remington, again with a 700 Remington action.
Favorite rimfire is a Winchester 63 (22 LR).
For wing shooting, I prefer side-by-sides in the English style.
When the rules allowed, my favorite turkey gun was a drilling 12ga/12ga/8x57IR.
I don't have much use for handguns, though I own six or eight. I'll take a 44 revolver into the thick stuff when following up a wounded hog, especially if the wound is from bow hunting, and it's occasionally fun to do a little handgun hunting, but that's not a priority for me. It's a bit strained.
In muzzleloader deer season, I use a Hawken style rifle, because to my way of thinking that sort of thing is what the season is all about. If I had a flintlock, I'd use it as well, for the same reason.
I don't think much about self-protection, and my military days are long past, so I don't worry about specialized guns for man-killing. I've seen enough people die not to focus on that overly much.

The best gun for what, Joe? The best man stopper is still the .357 Magnum w/4" barrel n 125 grain semi-jacketed hollow points. As far as pistol go, the Glock (any of them) is hard to beat. One of the best shotguns is the 870 Remington. I have no use for the M4, 47, sawed off, Tec 9 or micro submachine gun but the FAL is hard to beat as a combat rifle. I have no need for a sniper rifle, but the Mannlicher Pro Hunter in .30-06 is a great long distance shooter.

My best? As follow:

Revolver: Colt Python .357 Magnum
Service automatic: Glock Model 20 .10mm
Deer rifle: Remington 700 in .25-06
Police shotgun: Remington 870 12 gauge
Hunting shotgun: L.C. Smith 12 gauge double
Cowboy revolver: Ruger 'old' Vaquero .38-40
Cowboy carbine: 16" Winchester Trapper .44 Magnum
Nightstand gun: Ruger Security Six 2 n 3/4" barrel stainless steel
Deep conceal carry: Beretta Tomcat .32 acp
Field gun: Model 28 S & W .357 Magnum
Big game rifle: Ruger #1 Safari Grade in .458 Winchester Magnum

Fully Automatic 223 Cal 5.56mm rifles like the M-16 and M4 are the most versatile rifles for military personnel that might be fighting indoors or outdoors, at 10 feet or 1,000. Even with a smaller slug than the 7.62mm's like the 30-30's, AK's and SKS's, the M-16 puts out about 12 times as much weight in lead during a 3 second burst because of the superior round, rifle, and receiver. Maintenance-wise, M-16's are very reliable. They're durable, portable, and do not generally have much recoil. They're very easy to load and unload.

Yet again, some kids asking which is the best gun.

Let's see, the Sniper, SMG, Swanoff Shotgun, Shotgun, Pistol, and Micro SMG are extremely vague

Only a dumbass that plays too much GTA would say Tec9

I would say AK-47, I own four semi-autos and I could trust my life with them anyday.

For what?

I have a CAR15, an SKS, a 9mm SW Compact Auto and a couple of shotgun, each have a purpose. and a all are better at their task than is the other.

Best is a quality, My CAR15 with A3 upper, and collapsing is the most expensive firearm I own, but it is a bit touchy. For hunting coyotes It's good, but truthfully because of reliability I'd trade it for Ruger Mini 14 or 30 given the chance.
