I get rejected by CHP(for failing psychological).....so I apply for LAPD & get accepted. Later on, can I (now a LAPD officer) transfer to CHP or will CHP still reject me since I got rejected once?

Lots of people fail psychologicals. they are very subjective and scored by people who know nothing of law enforcement. I failed one at a PD I applied to. They said I was too aggressive and would be getting into fights all time. Which is hilarious, because I am a really mellow guy. Then again, it was a University PD, and they only want super mellow people. Anyways, didn't matter, I got a better cop job.

With most PDs, if you fail a psychological, it only disqualifies you until the next hiring phase where you can reapply and try again. So build your resume and try again down the road.

There is no such thing as transferring between two separate law enforcement agencies. Assuming you perform acceptably as an LAPD officer, that can't hurt your chances if you reapply with the CHP. Your previous psych failure won't help, but they will conduct a new evaluation. If you pass, you should be OK.

It is very likely you will be rejected by the CHP, because every department has its own standards. Obviously, you don't meet the CHP's.

The CHP will most certainly review your past application and determine that you were rejected. However, it is possible that if you apply again, the circumstances may be different as your psych exam may change.

Good luck.
