You can always ask him how much he wants. Generally men will eat more than women. In fact, I've heard that many women will gain weight after they first get married because they dish up a large portion for their husbands and then the same amount for themselves so they end up eating more.

Sometimes I do the dishing out and sometimes I do not. Either way, his portion is always bigger no matter who is doing the dishing. (Unless it is a nice t-bone, then I always take the bigger one!)
