your visitors remove your clipboard with medical notes from its metal pocket hanging off the end of the bed and start reading it? Don't you think that is rude?

I think it had in the charts how many times you used the bedpan and what you had to eat and what your temperature was.

Absolutely. Hopefully they won't be able to read the doctors handwriting!

Yes, that is very rude of the visitors. I thought medical information was to be kept confidential. Why is the clipboard hanging there anyway? Ask the nurse or your doctor if it can be in a more private location.

You know what? That is rude - I never really thought about it much as I have only been in the hospital once but it was recent and most visitors did look at my chart! That was personal stuff - not everyone needs to kow my blood pressure!

I don't think you need to worry about that one. Hospitals today keep that clipboard at the nurses station, not in the patient room.

It sounds rude, but I'm sure they are just interested in what's going on and want to read the notes.

Yeah, that's rude. And tacky. How I'd react would depend entirely on my mood.

Good mood:
"Hey! Good to see you! Yoo-hoo! I'm over here!...Do you have any questions? I can still talk, you know."

Neutral mood:
"Odd. I must have been in a coma for years since it appears you have gone through and completed med school! Now put that down and come talk to me."

Bad mood:
"Put that down and leave. *censored*"

Well if its your family... like your parents or something, I'd say no. But just friends? Yeah that is kinda a little rude.

Yes, that is rude. I think I'd let them though. It's not like they're going to see anything really major on there. I'd just say, "Hey, don't tell me if I'm dying!" Or, "Does it say when I'm getting my next sponge bath?"

Start asking them personal medical questions. When they respond that it isn't your business, tell them to stay out of your business also.
