I think thats why alot of kids get allowances, so they can buy there own thing and start to understand how much this stuff actually cost.

some are and a few are not. Stereo typing is inaccurate no rely who it is approximately. If some childrens are spoiled, who do you think of made them that way? it is not the youngsters fault that's for optimistic. I honestly have 14 & 13 y/o daughters and neither are spoiled rotten. Do they placed on high priced outfits and footwear? specific they do. Their sought after denims value over $one hundred. yet additionally they are the two interior the speeded up application at school, A honor roll pupils (with an occasional B) they the two play volleyball, basketball, and run song. The 13 y/o additionally performs tennis and the 14 y/o performs softball and is on the dance team. whilst they are no longer busy with activities and college, they help me out on the no kill animal look after that I run. They walk canine, scoop poop, feed the animals, sparkling the cages, etc. it honestly relies upon on how the youngsters are raised and what they're taught.

How youthful are we talking?
I'm 20 and I have had a job for years, I work hard to earn money and buy what I need. I know plenty of people who are given their first car by their parents. I'm still saving for mine 3 years after starting work because I've been trying to live. My mum and dad have helped me from time to time, but I do my absolute best. If I really did want something, as a kid, I asked my parents for it for xmas of birthday, and had to wait.
It's up to the parents. They need to be firm and say no to things, rather than bend to the every whim of their little princes and princesses. Kids younger than me are soo different to how I was brought up. Swearing, violence, drinking, sexual activity... no discipline. What can possibly have changed in the past 6 years or so?!

Yes they are, but some parents also use the children as a reason to buy some of these things because they want it also.
I have no problem with kids getting things, I have just seen kids I know just get everything handed to them for doing nothing. My daughter knows unless it is her birthday or Christmas she is going to work and earn her luxury items.

IMO, the majority of this newest generation is spoiled, yes. It's insane the things these children own, and what's worse, EXPECT. I've also noticed that many of these 'spoiled' kids in my personal circle have absolutely no clue about the value of money and work.
It makes it very hard to raise a child against the grain.

it isn't necessarily spoiled...it is the effect of the environment...our parents discipline us the same way they were disciplined, but the environment in our generation, has us kids/youth being looked at by the past generations negatively...media has created many "negative/different" images in the youth population of about what fun, education, music, entertainment, and ect....and it is mainly just different from past generations...i mean the next generations will probably be more "spoiled" but we will train and teach them well, but when they go out into the world it is the environment that will effect them more than our training...fine we might be spoiled to our parents or the past generations, but surviving in this world being exactly as the past generations isn't easy...but the parents aren't too innocent in this case....they also follow the media or the trend for discipling..i mean instead of punishing it is lectures... wat is the point in buying us electronics and other crap which u will disapprove of in the end and take away what does than teach us...life isn;t always fair but personally youth these days are "spoiled "or they could just be differently taught to survive this generations and too come...

the more a parent gives, the more the child wants. My kids were made fun of in school because they didnt have cell phones! That was in 5th grade. Sorry, they had to deal with it! Now 8th and 9th graders they do have pay as you go cell phones if they dont work for it, by doing extra chores. like cleaning the garage, weeding the yard, washing the car, helping at their grandparents, etc. They DONT get the money to pay for their phones! After one month with no cash on their phones, they BOTH have steady babysitting jobs! My husband and I believe if they dont work for it, they'll be 35 living at home and playing WOW!

Well technology is growing fast and yes, I think they are getting ab it spoiled though. Most of these electronics are used by teens and young adults.
It was a similar situation in the 90s. I did get super nintendo when I was schoolaged though. I also wanted gameboy(which I got for my 9th birthday in 1993) I think it's just advancing technology.

It depends on the family i suppose. Say if a family has alot of money, and the mom and dad didnt get stuff that they really wanted when they were younger, of course if they have the money they are going to give their children whatever they want to make up for what both the parents didnt have when they were younger.
But say if you live in a middle class family, like i did, i could ask for lotsa things, but i never got them. And after awhile it wasnt such a big deal. I had a TV, but no cable in my room, and i had a cell phone, but i have to pay for it myself. My parents bought me my clothes and things for school, but i had to work for money to buy other stuff i needed, like makeup and jewlery and an MP3 player.
So really kids AREN'T spoiled these days, because many of the things that are out are too expensive for everyday familys to afford, and the middle calss is what makes up most of our country anyway!

Yes many are spoiled...not my daughter. I will never let her have a television, computer or anything like that in her room. I think that is ridiculous. She also has a schedule that we stick to, unless it is a special occasion (like a relative is visiting). Children need discipline and love, not gadgets and electronics.

yes they are. It's mostly due to kids valuing material possessions much more nowadays and parents working a lot and there are also more single-parent families, so they feel guilty for not spending time with their kids and compensate by buying them ridiculous things. It's a vicious cycle
