Is there a website that offers free advice. I am a mother of 4 fight my soon to be ex hubby for custody of our daughters. He wants to care for 2 of the children believing he can escape paying child support.

Why do people always assume that the only reason a man would want to be with his children is to escape child support? How are you so sure that he doesn't just want to be their parent, like you? Don't you want your kids to continue to have the benefit of two parents in their lives, despite the failure of your marriage?

What if your husband said that the only reason why you wanted to have custody was so that you could *get child support*? Would that be fair?

There are all kinds of 'pro bono' (free) lawyers out there for people who need them. Google 'pro bono lawyer search ' or 'free legal help ' & see what comes up for your area.

Please put your own adult issues aside, though & think about what's best for your children when dealing with *their father*. Treat him with the same respect as a parent that you want him to treat you (whether he does or not).

If you are going through a divorce, you need an attorney. He will have to pay half, I don't think he will get custody of the girls if you are taking care of them, and working. He will also have to pay child support. You perhaps will even get alimony, but talk with an attorney. You need to know all your legal rights. Best of Luck

sometimes people (men) are very sincere wanting to raise some of the children themselves, and it's commendable, but i can see your point.

my ex husband wanted custody of our son so he would no longer have to pay child support, as well... and he hurried up and got married so he'd have a 'babysitter'.... it wasn't about raising our son, but rather so he didn't have to pay support......

i guess you will have to look at the situation. talk to your attorney, have him and perhaps the judge talk to the two of your children in question about where they want to live. many times the attorney and judge will ask the children, if there is a conflict or question about custody.

take care. hugs
