How to backup my data on a CD?

You must have a burner capable of burning to a CD/RW.
You must use CD/RW.
You must use the software that powers the burner to first format the CD -- I have a Samsung, powered by Nero, and a Dell, powered by Roxio. Each uses a different software to format the CD/RW.

Frankly, with flashdrives available and with a much larger capability, I would invest in a flashdrive or two. I recently picked up a 1G and 2G, each for $9.99 after I get my rebates.
