have a beautiful wrought iron bed here's a picture of it: http://www.americanironbeds.com/wesabeds/bedfulls/1052flpg.html
My wall color is called "Rainwashed" by Sherman Williams, which is on the blue color scheme although also blending into a very pae green. You can check it out on their color visualizer if you'd like: http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/
THE QUESTION???? The headboard is kind of high, but there is still alot of space above it. Do you think I should decorate above the headboard, i.e.artwork or leave the space empty. I've been asking myself that question for a year now so I really would like some input. Thanks.

i wouldn't. that bed is beautiful! decorating the wall above i will just detract from it.

I would get 3 pegs to match the color of the iron bed and put it in a trianglular shape ..2 corners in line with the bed post and one in the centre. Then I would hang a sheer curtain from the center and pleat it and bring it to either side and tie a knot around the 2 pegs and leave the rest to drape on either side of the bed and may be add a little trim to the edges. I would go with a very sober color like off white or white based on what I will be using on the bed.

Good luck

I personally would not add anything else to the wall. The bed is beautiful and anything else make take away from it.

One thing to consider is doing that wall as an accent wall. Perhaps a faux finish in a single glaze.....with of course the rainwashed as your base coat and a soft soft metallic as the glaze....see modern masters metallic collection in either "champagne" or "warm silver".

A pretty sheer curtain panel could be hung on a rod above the bed to drape down or a couple mirrors with framing to match the bed. Several catalogs have iron designs with leaves and tealight candles that would be pretty, Try Collections or LTD.

if all your walls are plain i would suggest putting a small picture there, itd look nice if u had like one of trees changing in to the fall with orangey/red colors and a medium/dark brown frame around it.
if u already have pics of other decor on your other walls i suggest to leave it plain. dont wanna clutter it up too much!

hope i helped a teeny bit lol :)
good luck

This is really a personal decision .. but myself I would leave the space empty .. I personally think it would look to 'busy' to put something above it ..

Agree with Scooby. Beautiful bed like that deserves bubble gauze - light, airy, softens the metal...think I'd suspend it from the ceiling as a backdrop for the head board.

Dharmatrading.com has bubble gauze. http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/3479-AA.shtml and all the dyes you could ever want.

have fun
