I don't understand the fight over religion and people's beliefs. It is up to yourself what you believe. You should study and pray to figure out what you believe to be true. I don't understand why people feel like they need to down someone because of there beliefs. What is so wrong with living your life with the knowledge that there is a higher power that created you and loved you so much he gave his only son that one day you could enter the gates of Heaven. Please tell me why people who don't believe feel like they need to try to make those of us who do belive feel like we are wrong. I know what I have felt and I know what God has done for me and I am thankful for it. If you have never felt his power or been a recipient of his glory I am sorry for you. That doesn't give you the right to down those of us who have. You believe whatever you want but I believe you need to keep the negative to yourself and quit answering questions just to down someone.

To mr. pretty paws, I never said i felt sorry for people who don't believe, I said I felt sorry to people who haven't felt the power.

If everyone didn't want people preaching religion on here, then why do they continue to read the religion questions. No one is bothering you, you are the one who chooses to open the question.

2 Timothy 4
1 I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: 2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

John 14:5-7
5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

My problem with this is the condescension. Who are you to say you feel sorry for us who do no believe the same as you? What gives you and your kind the right to tell us we should pray at all? If you would keep your beliefs to yourselves, we would all get along better. And "to yourselves" means don't try to legislate your religion into my secular life. I'm not going to tell you you are wrong for your beliefs. I will tell you that you are wrong for trying to impose them on the rest of us. Do you see the difference there? Believe whatever you like, just don't preach to me about it.

It is not that you have those beliefs that is the problem.

its when you start pretending that they are fact without one shred of credible evidence to support it.

Simply putting the term "I believe" before most of your sentances regarding religion will qualify such statements so as not to make them offensive to logic.

If I were to say: "Dubya plays with go-bots in the bathdub" well its so amusing and funny you WANT to believe it, and it is easy to believe it but the truth is I have no evidence whatsoever to support my claim.

However if i said "I believe he does" then I would not be saying something offensive to logic or to anyone. Maybe dubya would take offence that I would believe something so.... Well probably true, but you get the point.

EDIT: actually it is more often than not that it is someone of a religious faith trying to "convert" people. why not practice what you preach and tell these christian missionaries to stop extorting people to convert with giving food and supplies to them. Thats not a choice, thats duress, same as if the missionary put a shotgun to thier head.

Well, know that there are those of us out there that, while we may not necessarily agree with your beliefs word for word, we like to hear what you have to say and enjoy engaging in thoughtful debate and conversation with you. I like to think that I am respectful of others' views and opinions. I feel it enlightens my own.

I have often wondered that. some of the bloodiest wars ever fought were over religion. No religion can claim to be free of blood.

I got a kick out of your condescending tone while asking others not to put down your beliefs. Good show!

When your beliefs stop impacting my life, maybe I'll go with live and let live...but not until.

As an Atheist, I respect others with their Religions as much as they respect me. Now, ask yourself, how much do you respect Atheism?

I have no problem with you personal beliefs...until you (in the general sense) attempt to bring them into our government or schools...that is when I must point out that they are delusions...
