The following are some good guidelines for any type of diet:
1) Keep it generally low in fat. Both types of dressing contain oil and/or fat. A healthy diet would generally be low in fat content.
2) Keep it generally low in sugar content. Many 'low fat' dressing have added sugar to make them taste better. Read the labels and check on this. Added sugar is just empty calories.
3) Use more whole grains (added fiber). A healthy diet contains more whole grains such as whole wheat bread, brown rice as opposed to white, etc. Whole grains also have more natural vitamins and minerals, etc. That's why white bread is fortified......to put back in many nutrients removed by using just white flour.
You could easily use a reduced fat/reduced calorie dressing while adding crumbled cheese.
You might want to be careful with the cheese, too. I've tried the fat free stuff, it's not that good. But, there are some versions made from 2% milk. They're lower in fat than regular cheeses, but still taste good and they'll melt in a dish you cook.

the blue cheese dressing alone would be betther then italian dressing w/blue cheese crumbles. however, both ways are very high in fat and calories. if you insist on the blue cheese, try it with oil and vinegar drizzled over top. or maybe hidden valley makes a fat free blue cheese dressing....but you still need to watch for the calories and only use the recommended serving size.

Crumbly blue cheese with Italian dressing is better b/c it lacks all the fat and sugar that blue cheese dressing may have. It also tastes better, so try the cheese and Italian dressing.

Check your labels for sure, but I'm willing to bet it's to crumble blue cheese with Italian dressing. Blue cheese dressing is a "creamy" based dressing, so it's going to have a lot more fat and milk solids, etc. that you really don't need.

if you have to have bleu cheese, put some crumbled on top, then use oil & vinegar separately. The mayo based bleu cheese dressing will be the worst of the two, but any BOTTLED vinaigrette will be way too high in fat & sodium to be considered healthy also.
