I think we tend to be better educated.

Actually it's the reverse. Some of the best educated people on the planet, for example most of the members of the National Academy of Sciences, do not believe in a personal God, and are most likely agnostic on the existence of God as a first cause.

However, there are some pretty dumb atheists on the planet, too. Atheists don't seem to have a corner on the market of intelligence, but the intelligent are less likely to find any reason to believe in God.

Yes. Now, I know, some may be a little on the dumb side and answer questions, how they're not supposed to, and make other Atheists seem like if they have no idea what they are talking about. But, smart and intelligent Atheists, are far more intelligent than those that believe in a so called god, or multiple gods.

If you look at the statistics, yes, the Atheists have a higher IQ and a higher education level than the religious.

no, but most of the smartest people are probably atheists.

Being an atheist doesn't mean you're exceptionally smart, it just so happens that most exceptionally smart people choose to be atheists.

Nah, statistically there's little difference. It's higher education that dilutes faith, not higher IQ. There is a negative correlation between education level and religiosity.

Besides, how do you define smart? What kind of intelligence are you using as a base?

Kind of. It has been proven that the more intelligent you are, the less religious you are (in general). But that doesn't mean you don't believe in God, just that you are less likely to be religious (ie going to church, practicing religious ceremonies)

Rational, logical, educated, and damn sexy- yum
Yes that is a gross generalization... I have met some dumb-a$$ "atheists" before, but many many many more dumb-a$$ religious types.

The trends show that there is a negative correlation between education and religion.

"Smart" may be a different matter.
