I don't support this at all. However, with or without the law, I know as a fact that many of the state universities in CA allow illegals to get the in-state tuition rate. This is unfair, because the in-state tuition rates are denied to U.S. citizens and legal immigrants from other states.
Effective July 1, 1998, illegal aliens are not entitled to any post-secondary education benefit that is not available to a U.S. citizen who is not a state resident. Yet it appears that California and Texas have, for the moment, circumvented the law by basing their in-state tuition policies for illegal aliens not on whether the alien is a "resident" of the state, but rather on whether or not the alien graduated from an in-state high school after three years of attendance. Efforts are underway in several other states to allow illegal aliens to pay the lower, in-state tuition as well.

This is a hard question . . . It really boils down to when is someone a citizen . . . there's the stance that anyone who is not exactly legal is illegal and should be deported (which sometimes I agree with) and then there's another part that thinks illegal immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for a substantial amount of time, maintained jobs, paid taxes, avoided jail and just been all around normal people should be given a second chance to set things straight. It's hard but if I were forced to a call it, I would say no because the tax dollars being spent to subsidize the education should be going to legal immigrants.

I don't support this. What I did support was myself...all the way through college, right here in CA. Expensive too. For immigrants, it isn't just about a reduced price, it's about free books, $ for childcare during classes, $ for food during the day, GAS MONEY to travel to school...not a joke, no...we'd all like free gas wouldn't we? I didn't realize all of this at first until I kept hearing it from all of the recepients of this money. I wasn't jealous at all, I could pay my own way, I just felt it was another way for people that shouldn't received education assistance to milk the system. I can't wait to leave CA.

It is a true fact that California did pass this referendum. It was one of the reasons I moved out of the state after living there 25 years. This referendum was passed while another was rejected. The rejected one was to put that money towards the dependents of servicemen's family that wanted to attend college in the state.
Remember. If you don't like it, LEAVE!!!

It passed in California, now they are trying for outright grants.
I think it is a magnet that draws more to come illegally 'for the children' at the expense of our own children's opportunities. Every seat is not only filled, but contested for.

I don't think illegal immigrants should have the same rights to services that legal residents or citizens have. I think those services have to be earned through the proper channels that eventually give you a legal status to live in any foreign country.

Would the other CA state workers get a discount on college?
If no certainly not,
It is odd that your State is so willing to give it's self away to total strangers.

I don't support it. I don't support giving illegals a leg up on our own legal citizens. It's a crime to be a good American today, if you would listen to all of the illegal crap these racists disperse. I for one, don't care what illegals think, they are not of my nation!

I don't think illegals, irregardless of how they obtained their illegal status or their country of origin, should be allowed any benefits what-so-ever... after all, they should not be here & therefore should not be in any position to get the benefits.
