I think the average bedtime for a 3 year-old is 7:30pm and they usually sleep about 12 hours (give or take an hour), so they wake up around 7:30am.

My daughter is 2 1/2 she goes to bed around 10 pm every night except on the weekends she stays up later. She used to go to bed earlier when I stayed at home with her. Now that I work I don't think 2 to 3 hours a day is enough time to spend with her. She usually sleeps around 12 hours even if I have to take her to my moms some mornings. She will go in and go back to sleep with her. But she doesn't take naps. When she takes naps she gets very ill when she wakes up.

Look you need to look at your life to decide this- If for instance your husband doesnt get home until 7 then 7:30 isnt a very good time for the child to go to bed. If you like to sleep in a little in the morning put him to bed later like 9 pm. I dont think most kids need to be up later than 9 at this age but really whatever works for you is fine as long as he is getting about 12 hours sleep (even that is variable).

They say children that age need 10 to 12 hours of sleep. The older they get the less sleep they require. I have a set of three year old twins and I put them down about 7:30 or 8 the latest. When I wake them up in the morning its 6:30 so I can get to work ontime and they function quite well with that amount of sleep.

my 3 yr old sons bedtime is 9:30 and we get up at 6:30am each morning. and he has about a 2 hour nap each day at daycare. this seems to be enough sleep for him,now on the weekends i let him stay up a little later like 10:00 or 11:00 and he usually sleeps till about 8 or 9am then with a 2 or 3 hour nap during the day. it just depends on what makes your toddler feel and act the best

I find that no matter what time my 3 year old daughter goes to bed she always gets up no later than 9:00a.m. but your should take your schedule into account. The child should get around 10 hours of sleep but every child's sleep needs can vary. Again you really need to take your schedule into account. If you got to bed at around 10 and get up at around 6 it may be a good idea to put the child to bed at 9 and wake them up at 7. Also it is not necessary to make a toddler take a nap. They will govern their sleep patterns, you just have to to make sure you time it right.
