I´m positive that Buddha didn´t want a religion to be built around his life and person. As for jesus, IF (and that´s a big IF) he´d existed, he´d be depressed at how similar to his heyday´s pharisian corrrupt practices his church has become. He´d probably despair on all the atrocities committed in his name. He´d probably hire a legion of carpenters to build enough crosses to die thousands of times over for all the christian sins (and probably the ones committed by Islamists and Sikhs too).
He´d feel betrayed, soiled, used and maintained as a figurehead for the profit of some opportunists.
In short: NO! He would DEFINITELY not be happy.

Nope, because he said "my kingdom is NOT of this world." If he showed up in 2007, everyone would want a percentage of Christ. The Republicans would want him to run for President. TV evangelists would fight for a piece of him. Peter would try to sign him up for a reality show. Judas would elect himself talent agent. Mary Magdalene would get a total makeover and be courted for the "love interest" on the show. Luke of course would be his personal physician.Jesus' twin cousins James and John would be his bodyguards, and so on. In the face of all this nonsense Christ would flee into the California desert, never to be seen again. Except, perhaps, as in the person of a hospice cat named Oscar?

I think Jesus would be disappointed with many of the acts carried out in his name!
including the many cults that have risen and attempted to claim dominance over all matters to do with him.

I doubt it but I think the cult aspect of it is very cult-ural in origin. India and China didn't tend to swing that way and their religions tend to show that.

Some people think it would be nice, if we could start it over, and do it right. I don't think Jesus wants to go through that again...
