At 10-12 feet a 50" or bigger screen is recommended.

With only those 2 choices and money not an issue, LCD will give you a better look. But you shouldn't rule out DLP. There are negatives to both. DLP doesn't work well in a bright environment. So if you have windows and want to watch during the day you should really question your purchase of a DLP.

DLP while it can produce 1080p resolution, it usually does so by using tricks in the projection system. Only a few are true 1080p. While most LCD's these days are 1080p with all the pixels and no tricks.

Also, you shouldn't rule out Plasma. It's the best, and you can get an affordable one at that screen size. Great for bright rooms as well. And no more burn in issues, and long 27 year screen lifes.

i would say that the sharpest picture is LCD, but the DLP's have more deeper black levels and are good at making colors look vibrant. I have a 65 inch DLP with 1080P and it looks best at about 10 feet away.
