It's good, but if you eat too much of it you will get fat. The nutritional value depends on what kind you get. I buy natural peanut butter, but most people don't like it because you have to stir it every time you use it. And the first time you stir it after you get it home is much more difficult than stirring after that. If you don't stir it enough, it will seem slightly dry by the time you get to the last 1/3 or 1/4 of the jar. Other peanut butters (the popular ones) have the oil specially treated (hydrogenated, that is) to become solid so you don't have to mix it anymore. But people say hydrogenated stuff isn't good for you.
Anyway, peanut butter is good for you but it is high in fat so it shouldn't be a staple. I think it also has saturated fat in it, but I can't say for sure because I don't have a jar in front of me. Have a nice day!

Not all brands of peanut butter are equally healthy. In fact, many contain undesirable additives that do more harm than good. So before you buy your next jar, be sure to check the ingredients.
The worst offender is palm oil. Also known as palm kernel oil, this is a cheap oil that is added to peanut butter to prevent the natural oil from separating out. Unfortunately, palm oil is high in saturated fats. Brands that use palm oil contain 16 to 20 percent more saturated fats than those that don't.
As an alternative to palm oil, some brands contain mono- and di-glycerides of fatty acids, also known as glyceryl monostearate or distearate, or E471. This is used as an artificial stabilizer. These brands are also high in saturates.
Sugar is another common additive, though it's often disguised on the label as dextrose, sucrose or fructose. Sugar adds to the calorie count of the product without any nutritional benefit. Of course, it's also a factor in causing many undesirable conditions, from obesity to dental decay.
If you want to avoid these and other additives, look for a brand of peanut butter that contains peanuts and nothing else - or, at the very worst, small quantities of added salt. Although too much salt can lead to high blood pressure, small amounts are safe. A sodium rating less than 0.4 grams per 100 grams is acceptable (this is equivalent to about one sixth of a gram of salt per generous serving of peanut butter); anything higher is not.

it does have a little saturated fat but more importantly it has monunsaturated fat. it's very difficult to find things with a healthy portion of mono without running into a little bit of saturated. so the benefits outweigh the cons. natural peanut butter is VERY good for you. many people don't like it because it is runny and needs to be stirred, but i believe it's skippy taht makes a new natural one that you do not need to refridgerate or stir, and it stays very creamy. i think it tastes like regular. just keep your portions in check because it is so high in calories. one serving is 200 calories.
idea: a rice cake with a half a tablespoon of natural peanut butter and 1 tbsp of sugar free jelly. sprinkled with cinnimon and splenda. GREAT sweet treat when you just need a little something. heart healthy and the fat in the peanut butter will help you to feel full longer!

regular peanut butters are not good for you. they contain A TON of added sugar and very bad hydrogenated oils/fats. however if you get an organic or all natural brand they are made with no extra added sugar and no hydrogenated fats/oils. these are really good for you because they use healthy fats that your body need to have for proper function and protein as well.

It is good for you. It does have saturated fat, however it is vegetable fat and does not contain cholesterol. It is an excellent source of protein. Two tablespoons is considered a serving and can take the place of a meat.

2 tablespoons is a good amount, not a whole jar! peanut butter is good because it provides that good fat, as well as some nutrients, such as the protein!

depends...if you need more protein in your diet it's great...at one point i was having stomach troubles and couldn't eat milk products so my doctor suggested eating a spoonful of pb once a day to get the protein i was missing...but yes, it can be fatty and sugary, so it really just depends on how you want you focus your diet.
