Is it possible for only one tonsil to hurt?

Yesterday morning I woke up with a pain below the jaw...midneck...and it hurts all the way up to my ear...oww...only one side hurts though...i dont feel any pain when i swallow or anything but i have some phlegm... is it possible for only one tonsil to hurt....my throat loos pretty red...I will go get cheked...but before I go, I was wondering...thanks

yes it is possible for one side to hurt and not the other. you did the right thing by getting it checked, hope you are feeling fine now, good luck
