Boundaries is what you are talking about...When I give unconditionally regardless of how it ended up ..I believe in my hear that if I did my best..and gave with a good heart....Then thats all that matters....
Now if the relationship is TOXIC and the response was also TOXIC I need to remove myself from that relationship and not try to change the other person....

yes, but then in the long run it was a learning experience for me and I really feel sorry for the person who took advantage of a short tern " quick fix " rather than a longer one.
