I could decide to rob the 7-11 down the street. The fact that the cops would arrest me and put me in jail does not take away my ability to decide to rob the store.

"Free will" means that you have the ability to make a decision. But then you have to deal with the consequences of the decision. Just because you CAN decide to do something does not mean you should do or have the right to do it. If you decide to do something wrong, you will pay the price. Night be punished byu God, might be arrested by the police, might be disowned by your friends, or might just make yourself feel bad. But you do pay a price for bad decisions.

If there was no "free will" and everybody was just automatically doing what they had to do, then there would be no consequences for a decision, nor any punishment for an action. The fact that God punishes people for their actions means that there is "free will" and they are responsible for what they do.

Nothing in "free will" means that there are no consequences for your actions.

God punished people in the OT for their actions however in modern times( since the time of Jesus)God does not punish us on earth but rather we are accountable for our actions in the afterlife.People have always had free will and make their own choices to do good or bad.

That being said if you do something bad/commit a sin, there can be consequences on earth but the main consequence you will face, if you do seek repentance,is in the afterlife.

Did you ever disobey your parents? What were the results? If you had no choice in what you did, were you punished for it? God punishes us for the CHOICE to sin. If there was no choice in it (for example, a woman who is raped is not guilty of fornication or adultery), there's no charge against you. If you choose to sin, then you're responsible for making that choice. The fact that there's a penalty for making a wrong choice does not in any way mean that no choice was made.

We have free will on this earth and wont be punished. We will have the choise to follow God or not to and be carried away by the temptations of the devil. The punish ment comes after Death, according to our actions down on earth.

You do have freewill. Don't you do as you please? Off course there are consequences to our actions. It's just the same as you have the freewill to do as you please in your country, freedom of movement, speech and so on but if you say something bad to someone that person can sue you on the grounds of defammation of character. There is freedom of movement, provided it is legal otherwise you are arrested. Consequences to all our bad deeds, here on earth or with God.

free will is compromised by behaviorism. but noone listens to me!

anywhoo, you would still have free will even if god smites you after you disobey him. it works very much like a mean drunk. you have the free will to tell him he's had too much sauce, and he can still get all violent when you say that. is god a mean drunk? i don't know. lol.
