Why couldn't Tillman be left where he was? A hero that was killed in the line of duty. But NOOOOOOOO! The anti-military libs had to keep digging until he is nothing now but an idiot that got shot by one of his own men. I'll always remember him as the MAN that gave up everything to protect the country he LOVED but now for many people he'll be remembered as the fool who gave up the NFL to travel halfway around the world to get shot in the head by friendly fire. It doesn't make sense to me.

Tell that to HIS FAMILY that forced the issue, not libs.

They seemed to think it was important to know the truth.

You know how to tell the truth, don't you?
Or did you go to the Scooter Libby,/Alberto Gonzales School of Testimony?

Look at all the libs bashing President Bush, like its his fault the military lied to Tillmans family. Personally Tillman was no one special( people made a big deal about him because he was a football player) It was his decision to join the military, many, many young people join everyday. So what, if the military lied, they have done it in the past and I'm sure they will do it again.

Gee, I don't know...because it's the truth??? You see typically, people like to live in reality and not in a world of lies and deceit. The problem with typical right wingers like yourself is that the truth doesn't matter to you and accountability is a bad word. You Cons just like to lie, lie, lie and think it's okay. Well guess what? It's not...And SHAME ON YOU for saying Tillman's not a hero anymore. Any soldier who is killed in a battle is a hero, regardless of who killed him...

The Tillman story has nothing to do with whether he was a hero or not (he was). It is about lies and propaganda from his superiors, not the actions of the man himself.

I find it appalling that the family of a hero had to fight for a year to get the truth when the military knew the truth all along. It is how he lived that makes him a hero, not how he died.

No one is calling him an idiot or a coward. As far as I'm concerned, the fact that he gave up an NFL career and a MUCH bigger paycheck to join the army makes him a hero. But honestly, would you rather he go down in history for something that NEVER HAPPENED? Isn't that a bit disrespectful to those who have really lost their lives to enemy fire? And for that matter, it's disrespectful to HIM, because he never asked for anyone to lie about him. I think that, except for very rare circumstances, the government has an obligation to tell us the truth. In this case, not only did they lie to us, but went to great lengths to cover it up. Something needs to be done about that.

wow dude. being killed in a friendly fire doesn't take away what he did. The whole problem was the way the military treated his death. the tried to turn hI'm into a poster boy for the army. they hide the truth about how he died not one but twice. people lied on official documents, other were told to lie, you don't have to be a liberal to be upset about this. im not a liberal and i don't like how the military treated his family. how they tried to use him as a propaganda piece. and i don't like how you imply that how he died take away form his sacrifice. it wasn't the libs that dredged this up it was pat Tillman's family.

The fact that he was killed bu friendly fire does not tarnish Tillman's hero status. The fact that it was covered up tarnishes the Army. His family has the right to the truth about his death.

What do the facts have anything to do with liberals? I didn't care one way or another about how he died. He fought for his country. He died under the many circumstances people die under in war. I didn't think he was a hero, just a good man.

What's the deal? Why waste all of that energy getting peeved off at liberals? Isn't your energy better spent honoring Tillman?

Wow on the face of it you dishonor him by what you claim in the first place. He is a hero (not was), and he wasn't brought down to any lower status due to the circumstances of his death. It has nothing to do with libs. His family pushed his inquiry, as any service member's family would do.

Secretly they are happy because once again they have proven how low President Bush and his staff will go to cover a sensitive subject. Liberalism has produced a society were mistakes/accidents are no longer acceptable forcing not just President Bush but the average Joe to cover their mistakes because the ramifications for not can be detrimental. Such is the price for living in a litigation society. Lawyers sue and people get rich quick. Welcome on the path to the destruction of a great nation.
