their version of a drug test is the car inspection and is far more effective than the other major sports drug testing.

They do drug test currently, based on reasonable suspicion, any other drug testing is left up to the individual teams.

Several drivers do feel that NASCAR should take a more pro-active approach and test every driver randomly through out the season. NASCAR feels this it is up the each team to handle that. Some teams have stringent policies about drug testing other do not.

I think, it's important that both NASCAR and individual race teams be part of this, as they would both be negatively effected by any allegations of drug use. Admittedly, problems seem rare but just because it isn't a problem doesn't mean it won't become a problem in the future. For the sake of knowing it is clean and keeping the sport clean, NASCAR and the race teams should be active in making sure NASCAR is drug-free.

Well, lets see, they announced a month in advance that they are going to drug test all the drivers............I'm thinking none will fail now. But I also can't think of any of the drivers that would fail. Maybe a couple of flunkies in the Nationwide or ARCA are using something, but no one in Cup. They have too much riding on the line to do that. And I think the majority of them come from good families and upbringing.

If they don't then they should. An impaired driver doing 180 mph with 42 other cars is dangerous. They don't let you drive legally on the street in this condition and your job should be no different.

Most jobs drug test these days. All of them should even for athletes and celebrities.

well, they already have it in the rules that they can ask for one but it might be better if they made it mandatory.
but hey what good does it do with football and baseball as we have seen somehow they get through the testing and dont get found out until too late and they have been hooked and hey how many players have said i did steroids for a while and never ever failed a drug test? what is up with that? must be some explanation.

with the speed and technoligy of the cars any driver should have a drug test everytime they wreck one of those cars.and if someone gets hurt no matter wheather its drivers crew or officials they should take drug test.after all if we get hurt at work we have to take drug test, so since its their job all parties should be drug tested incase of injuries

As a requirement by NASCAR, no.
Each team owner is left to determine its own corporate/driver policies. As it should be.
This is still AMERICA.
