Think about it,
religion is the one thing that starts
the most controversy and trouble.
Woman becoming less due to Eve eating the Apple.
The whole thing with Israel and all the suicide bombing.
Any input?

To NewCatholic:
So are you saying it is not
possible to feed the hungry
or educate the illiterate
without religion?
& how come the "help the starving"
commercials are always on religious
channels. I don't think Religous people
are the only people that care about
the hungry.

terrorists do the things they do
for their God.
now, if there was no belief in a God,
then there would be no terrorism.

Nothing much would change. There would still be an Israel, maybe it might have a different name, but it would still be there.
Now, get rid of science and technology and man would have to fight with fists. It'd be a full body contact encounter. All science and technology has done is made killing easier, less personal and possible from long distances.
There's a big difference between the Germans going over to England in boats and beating the people to death, then launching V-2 rockets from the safe shores of France. You kill lots of English that way and not a single German gets hurt.
If it were not for the A-Bomb we might still be fighting Japan, island to island with our bare hands.

Hello,
Whereas religion can certainly be used as a catalyst in strife and trouble it does seem to cage the beast so to speak.
If we all believed that we only have this one inifitesimal spark of life (av 75 Years) in the light of things then our "God" would have to be that of the almighty dollar and material gain and it would be wise to crush anyone who got in our way of our liberty and happiness through material gain. In other words there would be a lot more wars over wealth and territory and you would sure see droves of people going postal when layed of from great jobs or having their finacial planners screw up their portfolios etc.
Were I a leader with no moral constraints earned from religion, I would conduct things differently. Terrorists are not afraid for themselves but do worry about their families. For every suicide bomber identified I would order the summary execution of his whole family right down to the second cousins, sell their estates and give the money to the victim's families. Today in Afghanistan I would shoot 50 Taliban prisoners for every Korean hostage killed and throw their carcasses to the pigs and dogs allowing their friends to pick up the remains for burial 12 hours after digestion. At work or in business I as well as many others would attempt to take out anyone who got in the way of my happiness and lifestyle.
I could go on and on a bout reprocussions but in short, I say the world could well be even worse off without religion... not hard to imagine.
Regards,
Michael Kelly

I wish all of the "free thinkers" would stop and consider just how much good is really done in the name of Religion.
At least consider that there are great and wondrous things done for the poor, illiterate, sick, and aged people of the world. We send food to the starving, teach them how to farm better, have clean water, education, health.
Seems most can't even consider these things, all they WANT to see is the bad in Religion, and there has been some, no doubt, we are all human and evil people will, at times, use religion to keep power.
But take a true objective look at both sides.
Peace be with you!

Ok John Lennon...If religion were done away with this world would be in chaos. It holds the unstable in 'safe mode'. It's a form of government. "Live by this or you go to hell" how is that not governing the followers? on the contrary though, if people could learn to respect people for their beliefs then yes i believe religion could be done away with, but since people have to have it their way all the time and have primitive minds and hearts religion is a necessity.

Odd for me to recommend this but watch the epsiode of south park where they go to the future and religion is abolished. They fight about what to call science. It's not religion that breeds violence it is human nature. It is simply someone saying I'm right and your wrong. You are so wrong I am going to cause you physical pain. Religion is a strong belief so sadly they fight alot. The only way to stop violence is to stop all beliefs or make everyone believe the same thing. That is impossible. What can be changed is the reaction to different beliefs.

False religion causes it.
And false religion is controlled by satan himself/
And right now the whole world belongs to Satan.
He must own it otherwise how could he offer it to Jesus in return for one act of worship?
(2 Corinthians 4:4) among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.
In Revelation, false religion is called 'Babylon the Great'.
It is to be destroyed. It is also called ' the false prophet'.
(Revelation 20:10) And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur, where both the wild beast and the false prophet [already were]; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

your right, but if there wasnt for religion...the world would be divided and troubled for something else.
At least religion helps people individually. I can't think of anything else that would.
Atheism is a religion as well, we worship ourselves. Trying to convice you there is no god.It goes like this : your stupid and Im super smart cuz after all the "evidence" and "facts" that people with religion hasn't been able to "see", Im one of the few.

A world without religion...
It is not possible.
Religion, the Concept of God is in the nature of humankind.
God send Adam and Eve to earth, Adam was the first man and prophet.
But when after his death, people started to forget his teachings, God made Noah the Prophet.
Whenever people started forgetting and ignoring the heavenly teachings of God's prophets, they, however, wanted a God, someone to belive, someone to worsihp, so sometimes they made idols, and sometimes worshipped, stars, animals or sun.
Because its in human nature.
When people started forgetting a prophet's teachings after his death, God sent another prophet to guide them. Prophet Muhamad (PBUH) was God's last prophet.
