Sore muscles indicate that they need the exercise most.
Please use a combination of both.
Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.
Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

Doing a combination of both sit ups and crunches gets you abs quicker. Sit ups work out the lower abs, and crunches work out the upper abs!

I think situps work faster BUT they damage your lower back, so crunches are best. You can do hundreds of em just while watching TV.

None. These exercises wont do anything for you as long as there is fat covering your core (stomach).
You first have to learn to eat right/healthy and exercise properly. You should do cardio type exercises (such as running, treadmill, biking) as well as the exercises you mention.
If you are only doing sit-ups and crunches, you will never see results.
To sum it up:
1. eat only healthy foods
2. exercise cardio to loose fat
3. work your abs

For best results mix them up. And stop doing 100, that is way too much, it would harm your back and plus if god forbid you stop doing it for sometime it will just backfire on you.
