I have lost my bike Hero honda splender when I parked infront of a super market in Hyderabd. The bike was in locked when I went in to the shop. I gave a complaint in the near by police station. They told me to wait for 2 days so that they can keep under observation. Then they can book FIR. The reason is once FIR is booked it is not easy to get back the vehicle. We have to go to the court several times even if it is located. Is that correct. I am I doing right?
Can any body suggest what is the best action? Is there any possibility to get back such lost vehicles? whether any influence is required in the police station. The insurance for the vehicle also expired.

Sorry for your loss. What I feel your chances for getting this bike back is very dim. The worst thing in your case is that even you lodge a formal FIR of this theft still you cannot recover any amount from the insurance on the basis of this FIR as your insurance for this vehicle as you state is already expired. Any how you better contact the police station again & insist for lodging FIR & get a copy of the same with you, if it get recovered any time no doubt you have to get it back through proper legal process of superdari through the court but by not getting the FIR made now means you are giving full chance to the thief to get it disposed of it now.

The suggestion of police to you is very practical and no harm in accepting the same. The reason is as under -
In last couple of years, in large cities, apart from real theft, incidents of pleasure theft of vehicle is on rise. In such case, a person steal vehicle and ride the same untill petorl is exhaused and thereafter stolen vehicle is abandoned. Even if this is theft and culprit needs to be apprehended and prosecuted, due to shortage of man and machinery, police have no mechanism to check, control and deter vehicle thefts. Sometimes, police could get held of such persons accidently.

The first thing to do immediately is lodge an FIR...The more u delay the more easier it will become for the cops & the white collared insurance guys to wipe the dust of their shoulder...It is ur right to lodge an FIR.......Even if the ins. has expired...follow the logical steps...What r u waiting for...some miracle..

No, it does not appear to. Lodge a written FIR straightaway, and if there is any problem, send it by Registered A.D.post.
