NO! Its not a religion! Why can't the religious types GET it into their heads that atheism is not a religion??
Citations of communism, nazi's, etc. is completely ignorant and invalid. Read the question! If you cite these as atheists killing in the name of atheism, then every christians/muslim/etc. that's ever killed somebody killed them in the name of their religion, which is of course not true. Besides, the Nazi's weren't atheists and religion wasn't forbidden. Read your history...
Edit: I agree with Skaggy, how is abortion, euthanasia & stem cell research atheists killing in the name of atheism? Many people doing all three of those things are religious...

I think that you can be pretty certain that if anyone knew an example of this, we'd be hearing about it constantly.
Instead we just get that standard bullshit about how atheists are responsible for the actions of Stalin and Mao and Pol Pot. That oughta be pretty convincing evidence that atheists have never killed in the name of atheism.
More importantly, look around you at the atheists here in the United States. Do they promote killing others? Nope. Do Christians? Yup. Don't believe me? Check it out:

No. there have been madmen who advanced other crackpot ideologies and also happened to be atheists, but no one has ever gone on murder sprees to advance atheism.
True megalomaniacs tend to be atheist because they don't like competition or to acknowledge any power other than themselves. This is an example of coming to the right conclusion for very bad reasons.

And don't say that Stalin killed in the name of atheism; he was just a crazy guy who was trying to get rid of his enemies. His enemies just happened to be part of the church, and he just happened to not believe in god. He didn't kill because he was an atheist.

Ever hear of Hitler or his henchmen. What about old Joe Stalin He probably killed about half as many Jews as Hitler.
More than 1500 Christians die every day because their faith interferes with their atheistic and Godless government agenda.
Of course that includes the Christians killed by Muslims.
Son please open your eyes no man is worthy. Especially not a atheist. Terrible things have been done in the name of religion but just as well by men seeking to wipe out all religion in their countries. If you are trying to make a stand for or hold up atheism above the rest of mankind you have surely fallen short.

No. Inevitably there will be someone who brings up communist. They were atheists and they killed, but in the name of politics. So the answer is still no.

if they have its probably not often. but the days of christians killing in the name of christianity also more or less ended a century ago. If you havent noticed christians are NOT really involved in alot of the killing that happens in the world these days. There are instances here and there yes but they are retarded and very seldom. The big thing today is muslim religion and if you want to get technical, the soviets and the north koreans and most other facist and communist groups in the past century have been atheists.
