What will you say to god if when you die it turns out that he does exist but you've been worshipping the wrong religion?

And what's more he's a bit pissed off about it! Not quite enough to send you to hell straight away, he's giving you the chance to talk your way out of it.

They cant talk their way out of it once they know God does exist. WE must accept Jesus before we die or He comes again. The Bible is clear on that one.
But, I like what you are saying, as they can begin to ask themselves these questions now. THey cant say OH GOD I DIDNT KNOW. as He will show them all the times ppl have tried to show them and they rejected and all the times when He Himself tried to show them, and they would not receive what HE had to say. You cant plead ignorance with God. We all must search NOW to find out what is truth. I always say what if you are wrong? This is a big choice here, and ppl shouldnt make it quickly or lightly without a lot of thought. They must ask God if its real, live what they know now as the right way to live, and began to ask Him, and get a Bible and study and study and study, and to keep asking GOd SHOW ME GOD, and He will. How can one take such a risk that there could be a God, without doing all the research they can reading a little word wont do it You must study the word and pray, and you must be living the right way, as when you live in sin, it seperates you from God and you wont effectively hear His voice. HE calls us to obedience and purity and holy living, not even hard to do once God is the God of your life, then you become like Jesus, just as God commands us to do.

As to which religion one adopts is purely a question of choice.
Infact, God gave all His children two things in life equally namely:Freedom and Wisdom and by that our free will to do and have a choice in life.
Really, we are in the wrong religion but that is right in the sight of the Lord God because it is in conformity with the dictates of the world drama cycle.
God has a religion - which is the religion of non-violence or better still double-non-violence. This means the use of the sword of lust is considered as violence. God is holy and ever pure so he abhors the use of the sword of lust (sex).
Besides, God is a Soul and in fact the Supreme Soul. And Peace is an embodiment of the Soul. It is for this reason why God is an embodiment of Peace and Remover of Sorrow.
His religion, therefore, is that of Peace which transcends all religions.
God exists but He is so kind and sweet as to be angry with His own children. He does not give anybody punishment or sorrow. His task is to show all His children the way to purify themselves of their many sins so that they can have His unlimited inheritance of liberation and liberation -in-life.
Having said this may I add that God doesn't send anybody to hell and that the world in which we live today is the hell spoken about in the scriptures.

Oh he does exist, and we each will stand before him and give an account of our lives. But, there won't be a chance to talk you way out. You see, you either accept the sacrifice that Jesus made or you don't. You only have one life to live, and you must accept that payment now. It is appointed for man to die once, then the judgment. God is just, he is the only one just. His judgment will be just. In the presence of A holy God, even the good, such as Isiah knew his "righteousness was as filthy rags, ( today's version of a Kotex) When you knell before this creator of all, you will know, everything you ever did that was wrong. You will know, you are guiltily. And you will know, that the punishment for your sins is death. But you will also know that "death" as we think of it will not come, not then nor ever. You will spend all eternity, knowing what you did. Away from Gods presence. No one alive has ever been out of Gods presence, but it will come for these who reject him and Jesus.

Easy, I'll just point out that you can't go round giving people free will, no solid info, a plethora of red herring religions and then get all pissed off when they get it wrong - in fact, while we're on the subject, whats so bloody great about this god anyway? Just because your all powerful doesn't give you the right to go noncing round demanding everyone go on about how big and great you are. What a Stooge. And whats the deal with Satan? One disagreement and he goes sulking off in the basement and they both refuse to talk to each other- FOR MILLENIA! They can both piss off as far as I'm concerned, they're a couple of petulant children fighting over an ant farm.

Follow the creed of the mighty Sky Tortoise. When you die you can have believed in any amount of wrong stuff with no comeback.

Just so long as you shuffle off your mortal coil during the month or two every year when he's too busy hibernating to care.

No chance of that happening as I don't follow the dogma of any religion however I am absolutely certain that the way I conduct my life will be absolutely acceptable to God. If he does exist then I am sure he will be more pleased with action than words.

I don't believe that will happen. We will be judged on our actions, and if your religion helped you to be a good person, that's enough.

I think the idea that god would be "pissed" is just silly.

As I have never in my life worshipped any religion I therefore cannot be penalised for worshipping the wrong one. Making me clear for entry on a technicality

Why didn't you TELL me??? Are you really going to make me go to hell when I've only just got to find the real you? Let me in to your Kingdom of Heaven PLEAAASE or at least let me go back to earth and let them who also got it wrong see the error of their ways.

And so the prophets were born.

It's like dude, don't get all bent out of shape. You're the one who's all knowing! I figured since there was absolutely no proof of your existence and a whole bunch of crazy stories about you, you know, I figured it was an urban legend. But we're cool right? Well screw you then!

If I'm wrong and a god does exist, he will have made that quite evident long before I die.
