You get around .28 per mile or so for the first 2 years. (2 years of clean driving that is) And yes you can start driving the big rigs right after you get your CDL.

This info comes from my brother-in-law who is a trucker.

I once dated a truck driver and you can start driving right after you make depends on how hard you drive, If you show a company your a safe driver and get your loads there on time they will in turn give you better loads and more miles. Getting it there on time is very important as well as staying safe. Depending on what company you looking at right around .28 to .31 cents per mile although stay with a good record and get better pay.
