Old people can be ancestors. A group of them tends to signify traditions and wisdom of the past. Any figures older than us in a dream can even signify our parents even if they have no bearing on the dream.

A woman firing a gun in a dream tends to show an aggressive side to the dream. A lot of gun symbology depends on how exactly you felt as it was used and how it was used.

To dream of being arrested or captured suggests a restraint on one's moral judgments or on questions of right and wrong. To be shot suggests an injury to one's feelings and that one is becoming a victim or target of anger.

That's all I've got now. The pain in the stomach is kind of too general to name. Did it come from being shot for sure... Or was something else happening. Did the old people die... Or did they return later.

Dreams don't have to make sense in our reality. Try keeping a notepad by the bed for stuff like this. The second you wake up record as many key words and phrases as you can remember. It will help interpret the dream.

old people getting shot = disrespect
this one old woman = conflict
being captured and shot in the gut = losing control, and being criticized

You may be experiencing some conflict about things from respected individuals. It could be about two forces you may face. In other words, there may be two group of people in your life that you have to listen to and those are the respected ones. Somehow, you are not sure which one you should listen to. Project old people being shot by one old woman shows symbol of conflict. For example, it could be the the father or the mother that is giving up conflict feeling or boss against other boss or co-worker. Friend against other against friends. Feeling a pain while sleep is no surprise because your subconscious mind has triggered the nerve to function improperly.

YES outside factors affect your dreams. I hate to ones where you are in that "transition" mode- I incorporate whatever my surroundings are into my dream, like the television, radio even the kids talking to me.I have also found that certain foods are more likely to make me "restless" and subject to eventful dreams. Certain "times of the month" for women too.(in my own experience anyway)

You hate your mother.

I know, because I took lessons in this from Sigmund Fraud himself.
