Could be a loose wire in the plug, or the fuse needs replacing in the plug

There are several possibilities:

1) Overloaded circuit. Trip the breaker then see what no longer works. This will tell you what else in on the line.
2) Weak breaker. No good way to tell without professional assistance.
3) A short in the Iron.
4) A failed outlet.

When you say Main Switch are you referring to the Main Feed Breaker or the Circuit Breaker? If the Main trips you lose power everywhere in the home, the circuit breaker is for specific locations. Take the Iron to another room and simply plug it in. If it does not trip another breaker you know it is ok.

Remember that the breakers are safety devices. Short of one failing you are being told something is happening that the wiring cannot handle. Be careful!

Luck!

You are drawing too much amperage from the one breaker. Some thing you could try to alleviate this problem are to turn off or unplug some of the higher consuming electrical device that may run off of that same breaker or maybe try to iron in a different room or part of the house where there are less electronics. It also is a small possibility that there is some kind of a problem with your iron that is causing it to trip a breaker.

Highly likely there is a short either within the iron itself, in which case replace it. Or the flex is faulty, frayed or cracked. Or possibly the wires in the plug are loose. The last is easy to check yourself. Just take the top off the plug and have a look. Good hunting.

Its likely to be one of two things, a loose wire in the plug top, which you should be able to see. Alternatively, and more likely, a short in the element, which is the bit that heats the iron up. All in all - not worth repairin, so either buy a new iron or buy clothes that don't need ironing.

What a mish mash of answers as usual!! It sounds as if you have an earth leakage trip, RCD. If it is a steam iron, you may have overfilled it, and water is causing leakage to earth, or simply the element or some other part is causing earth leakage, enough to trip the RCD. An iron is not worth repairing, buy a new one.

It could be a number of things.
1: you are overloading the circuit. ( Too many other things plugged in)
2: A short within the iron itself.
3. loose wiring withing the plug, causing the plug too sjort out.
4. loose grounding wire.

It could be that there are too many stuff pluged in and the the electricity cant handle that much, an iron takes a lot of power. Its a short circuit, meanng the iron is bad. get rid of it, or it could burn the house down.

It has an earth leakage fault. The house main switch is cutting out to stop you killing yourself.

Your probably over loading the fuse, try to turn any other appliances off. If its still tripping, pop to your local independent retailers and get a new one.
