We bought a new home and having the carpet installed ourselves. We have this one room that is huge with cathedral ceilings and 3 seperate 8 feet windows. As for the carept, I found a dark beige berber with dark brown, light green specs in it. The railings and hardwood in the house are brown, green grey. o.k. so the carpet has squares in it. Do you think it would look too busy for this room?

you should also consider if you are willing to deal with the maintenance/upkeep (cleaning etc) of it

I think a large room can handle a busier pattern than a small room can because a busy pattern makes a room look smaller. However, on the issue of carpet, I removed carpet from 3 houses so far. This experience has convinced me to never have carpet in my house again. It is filthy! No matter how hard you try and how clean you are, carpet is just plain dirty. What about a nice wood or wood laminate with some large area rugs? When they get old and messy, you can just get rid of them and get new ones.
My suggestion is no carpet.
Best wishes.

It's hard to know just from a written description but it does sound busy. Try to keep your carpet as neutral as possible. It shouldn't be the first thing you see when you walk into the room. And it shouldn't conflict with any of your future furnishings.

yes i think it will look busy.

your best bet to choose a color for carpet is to get a interior designer to help u choose and match the house and furniture.

they wont be that expensive due to that u will only have them there deciding for about one hour
