Blood in your stool is a sign of either hemorrhoids or a fistula (cut on the inside of the anal opening) these both can be helped with "Preparation-H" and the suppositories in the evening before bed. If it really bothers you, take a hot bath and soak before the prep-H this always helps and keep yourself clean.

Blood in the stool from say an irritable bowel and further up has a thick density and look like particles of licorice, the mucus you see is maybe from an irritated bowel or intestine. This is usually caused by your diet, like gravies, sauces, hot sauces, to much roughage. Cool it on the pop-corn, peanuts (these are the worst) use Metamucil either the tablet or the mix, twice a day, eat more leafy vegetables.

If it continues for a few days go to the doc. Blood in the stool is generally black in color.
