Can you tell from drug tests what medicine does a person take? My hubby was tested this morning, he gave them his urine sample. He's taking Norvasc, we're just curious if it'll show on the result. Thanks

When drug tests are done, they are usually detecting those substance of abuse such as Cannabinoids like marijuana, cocaine amphetamines, opiates and phencyclidine. Test for athletes participating in major sports bodies would include testing for anabolic steroids.

Norvasc is a calcium channel blocker which ten per cent of the parent substance and 60% of the metabolites are excreted in urine. If you test for it in the urine definitely, it will be detected but routine drug test would not include testing it so it will not give any significance in the routine drug test.

For most cases, no. If he were at a large enough facility that tested their drug screen with gas chromatographic (HPLC) equipment (very sensative) he would get a spike that the computer could match to norvasc--but most drug tests are looking only for drugs of abuse.

No, they only test for pyshotropic drugs, ie pot, cocaine, meth, opiates, tranqualizers, etc. Also if u have a prescription for any type of drug and it showed up, vicodin or somethan, it wouldnt matter cause u have a script
