When you said it spread to you arm and hands I knew what you were talking about.
It sounds like you have a disc compression or rupture in the cervical spine area.
For now, before you see a doctor put ice packs on it to relieve the pain and take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for the pain.
I would make an appointment as soon as possible, it's not going to heal.

It is tight muscles in your neck and one of them had a spasm to cause the problem with turning your neck. To get rid of the pain so you can freely use your neck again you have to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to free them up: Neck Release: Place your hands behind your head touching your fingers. Press into the back of your neck with them and hold the pressure on them. After 45 seconds slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Please check with a doctor asap. I could be, Carpal Tunnel, Fibro Mialja, or early onset of of Authritius. (sorry about the spelling). Students spend so much time on computers, and at desks, that ergonomic problems can occure. Check that your computer, chair and phone are at correct ergonomic positions. Also things such as air conditioning and your mattress can effect your body in ways you would not expect. Take the time to see if everything is as it should be to help your posture and the way your body is positioned at all times of the day. It can make a big difference. Take care!!!!!!!

You probably are having Cervical spine problems, leading to compression of the nerve whch supplies the areas you have mentioned. In students this can be due to abnormal posture and one more recent entity called by the name..RSI or repititive stress injury. This is more common in those who work for prolonged period in same postures. Most common in computer users, clerks, typists etc.
You may also be having neuritis and there can be degenrative causes for these symptoms, common in elderly ones.
The best thing is to consult a doctor and you may need radiogrphs of the neck and other tests.
Good Luck.

Might want to see a doc, could be from your spine or something. If you slouch too much or hover over your desk or the computer try to stand and sit up straight but definitely see a doctor.
