I don't often fight with them, and as Christians we are not supposed to fight with them. Bearing witness is about setting an example of behavior as much as anything else, and probably even more in some ways than exactly what you say. By fighting with someone, what example are you setting?
I think what you find is that people that get a kick out of being on Yahoo answers either love to talk, or they love attention, or they love debate, or a combination of the three. Those who can't or won't be drawn into debate on these topics probably aren't going to post here. That leaves the fights that you see often break out.
There is one thing I don't quite understand though. For all the talk of freedom of religion, why does it seem necessary for others to tear down Christianity rather than just let it be? If an atheist thinks we are crazy, why do they get so bent on trying to prove to us the error of our ways? They don't do this to other religious groups. It just seems strange to me.

Did you already learn that the story of Adam & Eve is incorrect? When members of the same family bear children, the offspring are always born with genetic defects like sterility and Mongolism(Down Syndrome). If you want proof, marry your cousin and have children. Other mistakes in the Bible have been discovered. Be careful with religion as it can be an obsticle to any higher power.

No. I simply choose not to fight with them. Ignore them, ask questions which you believe have substance, and answer questions you think you have genuine answer for. And then ignore them some more. This goes for everyone....it's not just the Atheists, there are a lot of antagonistic people here from various faiths. Just ignore them and concentrate on getting whatever it is you came here to get. They think they are discussing religion and spirituality, it's a necessary step. First you play at something and then you learn how to really do it.
Let the children be children and get on with your life.
Besides, once in while they say something amusing.
Heaven is a state of mind,

I don't fight with atheist.
If an atheist asks a serious question, not being sarcastic or trying to put Christians down, I will answer. All others I ignore.
If an athesist contradicts something I have told someone else I don't fight them. I lay out the word of God and let it do the talking for me.
If one emails me wanting to argue, I answer them back, once. After that I delete anything they send, when they continue to argue.
Jesus said we would be hated for his name sake. We are blessed when we are persecuted for Jesus.
Matthew 5:39
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Learn more about who really wrote what's in the Bible, and how it was compiled, who compiled it and edited it and decided what went in and what definitely would not go in there. find out more about how translations and interpretations change the meanings of scripture often to suit the bias of the translator or the religious organisation who commissions the translation.
Try to use study material that is not biased to merely buffer your existing beliefs, get different viewpoints including pro and con ...this is real study and you will really learn something worthwhile...I agree it's fascinating stuff.

God Bless you....
I agree with you 100%. I try not to argue with them--I just try to state my position without being sarcastic back or without being condescending.
Alot of times I won't respond to a Christian's post unless they have a serious question or if they are wrong in what they are saying.
I respect non-believers. I used to be one, until God's grace convinced me otherwise. I respect their right to not believe. I am simply concerned for the truth to be presented to them--they can do what they want with it. I am not responsible for the results, only the activities.
I just wish that they would open their minds more--if they are like me, they fear the judgement and the idea that they are not in control. But there is no judgement under His grace, only love. And God is in control, whether you believe in Him or not.

Gah...If only all christians were as open as you. I live in an area where EVERYONE is christian and the second you question you're immediately hushed. I would like to think that we could all live "peacefully", so to speak, but I know there will always be tension. I don't think I could ever completely diminish my contempt for christian beliefs, but I'm certainly up to dropping the ongoing arguement between us. People just aren't open-minded to things they don't agree with at first.

I refuse to get into arguments, because the Bible speaks against this. I put my point across in a question or an answer sometimes, but it is then up to them whether or not they wish to consider my point.
It is the Spirit of God that brings people to the Lord, not our vain arguments.

lol somebody posts a version of this "question" each hour. it particularly is in simple terms an area of R&S on Y!A. there are various propose human beings, opinionated human beings, dissimilar human beings combat, that's what makes R&S extra acceptable than different sections of Y!A. And Christians and Atheists argue by using fact they have thoroughly opposite ideals. If somebody bugs you, in simple terms forget approximately approximately them. Or push their buttons :P

To bury your nose in the bible and to find beauty there is to show the utmost contempt for the true beauty that is the beauty of the natural world, and the world of the abstract that we might infer from our experience in it.
