you may not need a password just press enter or click the arrow and see if that works at the locked screen .or switch users and press the arrow on anyone of them. shouldnt need a password if you never put one in there.

If your son did not set password for his windows account, you can unlock the computer by just enter his user name. If he set the password for his account, then, to unlock the computer, you must have a Windows Administrator account. You can still use your own administrator account to unlock the computer.

If you hit lock this computer then, your computer will be at the login screen. To unlock it, just click the username and enter your password if it have. (In other word just login).

You type the password and then log back in? When I lock mine it shows me the user that was last logged in, and I can either enter the password and log in or switch users.

Restart you computer or shut it down. Make him give you the password and you should be good to go.
