Seriously.
Gen 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam...
ADAM wrote the book up to this this point which was passed eventually passed on to Noah....
Gen 10:1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah...
The book was added on to by his sons and eventually passed to Shem who btw was still alive when Abraham was called out of UR...
Who the heck to you think wrote those geneologies down and passed them on to their children?!?!?! How would Abraham know about all those people who existed before the flood if there wasn't a written record?!?! Adam's grandchildren were creating cities, were cattlemen, made musical instruments, created metal objects out of bronze and iron, etc..If they could do all that, don't you think they could scratch symbols out for sounds?!?! Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, we were monkeys up until a few years ago. Silly me.

EVERY culture has an ancient flood "myth" So you are saying that EVERY culture is wrong?

And the monkey remark, uh, I went to public school, and yes, we were taught that mankind decended from ape-like beings after those beings crawled out the primordial ooze. Officially taught as fact for every science class I ever had.

I recall that the official line was that Moses wrote Genesis. I guess I stand corrected. But doesn't it seem odd that Adam's descendants would each live betwen 500 and 900 years, yet only write down their names and ages and no details about their lives? (Remember, it was Cain's children who invented cities.)

i don't suppose you've heard of a thing called oral history have you? i have no idea when the bible first started to be written down but it seems unlikely that it was as long ago as 3000 BC. the elephant in the room here is the flood - there is far more evidence for ancient writing than there is for the flood. seems silly to have a discussion without addressing this.
