Drug Counseling Needed...?

Question

I have two family members who are in serious need of rehab. The two problems that I have are:
a. Money is definately an issue.
b. They are not willing to seek help.

Crack is the drug of choice for both people and many lives are being destroyed because of it. I need to know if there is anything I can do because of their unwillingness. And also where I can go for help.

hon, the hardest thing to accept is this: if they don't want help, then you cannot make them seek it. you can't force them into treatment. the most you can do is make it clear to them that they have a problem and that you won't stand for it.

you need to make sure that they don't take you down with them. i know you love them, but sometimes you just have to walk away from a situation or deal with it from a distance to keep yourself safe.

something that will at least help you is al-anon, which is a program affiliated with alcoholic's anonymous for spouses/family/friends of addicts. through those meetings you can find ways to deal with the situation, and maybe your family will realize that they need help. you can google al-anon and find meetings in your area. they're completely free, and they're amazing.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do for them. They must want the help. You can not be there for them, not lend them money, not give them anything. Hopefully, by doing so, you can speed up there downfall.
As for you, go to a support group for family members and friends of addicts. Call your local Narcotics Anonyomus Chapter and ask them to put you in touch with a family support group.

this sucks, but you have to save your self now. they won't try to get better, but they will try to take you and everyone else down with them. get away and stay away. they are already gone.
